The Ebola outbreak in Congo and Uganda has been caused by Bundibugyo strain. Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV) was identified during an outbreak of Ebola viral hemorrhagic fever in Bundibugyo district, Uganda, during August 2007-February 2008. Bundibugyo ebolavirus diverged from an ancestral lineage that is closely related to the Zaire ebolavirus. There have been two previous outbreaks of the strain.

Doctors warn that many Gen Z hydration trends, from excessive caffeine and sugary electrolyte drinks to inconsistent water intake, may be harming energy levels, sleep quality, skin health, and overall well-being. Experts stress that proper hydration requires balance, regular water consumption, and limiting trendy but unhealthy habits promoted widely on social media.
Doctors currently rely heavily on supportive care such as rehydration, pain relief, nutrition and treatment of infections to improve Ebola survival chances. Approved medicines and vaccines are available for Ebola virus responsible for earlier outbreaks, including Ervebo and monoclonal antibody treatments. However, no approved vaccine or specific treatment currently exists for Bundibugyo strain.
Ebola spreads through direct contact with blood, vomit, saliva, sweat and other body fluids of infected people or animals. Contaminated clothes, bedding and surfaces can also spread the virus. Fruit bats are natural hosts of Ebola. Diagnosis is difficult because early symptoms such as fever, headache, weakness and vomiting closely resemble malaria, typhoid and meningitis, making lab tests crucial.

South Indian women carry a heavier burden, with Puducherry showing 60% prevalence among women versus 40% in men.
