Description

Imagine biting into a warm, golden roll, its surface glistening with melted butter and a generous sprinkle of sea salt. These aren't just any rolls; they're a delightful combination of textures and flavors, perfect for any time of day. The first sensation is the soft, yielding crumb, a testament to their careful preparation.

Each bite offers a subtle buttery richness that complements the salty topping, creating a harmonious balance that awakens the palate. These rolls are incredibly versatile, making them an ideal accompaniment to a variety of meals. Picture them alongside a breakfast spread of savory cured meats, their delicate flavor enhancing the rich, smoky notes of the meats.

Or, consider them as the perfect partner to a succulent roast beef or grilled chicken, their soft texture providing a comforting contrast to the heartier fare. What sets these rolls apart is their unique composition, resulting in a surprisingly light and airy texture, with a crust that hints at traditional bread. They possess a sturdiness that allows them to be enjoyed in the same way as bread, making them perfect for sandwiches or simply enjoying with a spread.

The subtle buttery notes add a layer of complexity, making each bite a truly satisfying experience. For those who appreciate a touch of creativity, these rolls offer a blank canvas for experimentation. Consider adding a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, its delicate crystals providing bursts of flavor.

Or, explore the exotic notes of furikake seasoning, its blend of seaweed, sesame seeds, and spices adding a savory depth. Everything bagel seasoning offers a familiar and comforting blend of garlic, onion, and seeds, while a dusting of cinnamon and sugar transforms them into a sweet treat. Due to their fresh ingredients, these rolls benefit from refrigeration to maintain their optimal texture and flavor.

For longer storage, they can be easily frozen, ensuring you always have a batch on hand to satisfy your cravings. These rolls are more than just a baked good; they're an invitation to savor the simple pleasures of life, one delicious bite at a time.

Instructions

    1.
Preheat an oven to 325°F (160°C). In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine all dry ingredients.
    2.
Add vinegar and boiling water to the dry ingredients. Mix well, starting on low speed and then increasing to medium speed, for 45 seconds to 1 minute.
    3.
Add the eggs and 1 tablespoon of ghee to the mixture. Mix well for another 1-2 minutes until fully incorporated.
    4.
Divide the dough into eight equal parts. Wet your hands between each piece to prevent sticking and shape them into smooth rolls. Spray an 8-inch cake pan with nonstick cooking spray and arrange the rolls evenly in the pan. Brush the tops with half of the melted ghee.
    5.
Bake in the preheated oven for at least 60 minutes (mine took 70 minutes). Ensure they are fully baked inside to prevent collapsing. If unsure, err on the side of caution and bake for a longer time. Brush with the remaining melted ghee and sprinkle generously with Himalayan salt.
