These homemade delights offer a wholesome take on a beloved favorite, suitable for a quick lunch, satisfying dinner, or a tasty snack any time of day. This recipe serves as a versatile foundation, encouraging you to personalize your hotdogs with an array of complementary sides and toppings to suit your mood and preferences.

What sets these hotdogs apart is their commitment to simple, quality ingredients. Eschewing the highly processed elements and numerous additives found in conventional hotdogs, this recipe allows you to create a more nourishing version in your own kitchen. By carefully selecting your ingredients, you have complete control over what you're eating, ensuring a delicious and feel-good experience.

For a lighter approach, consider serving these delectable hotdogs in a crisp lettuce wrap, providing a refreshing alternative to a traditional bun. This simple swap keeps the focus on the flavorful hotdog while offering a delightful textural contrast. The cool, crisp lettuce perfectly complements the savory, seasoned meat.

When it comes to toppings, the possibilities are endless. A classic combination of diced onion, sliced pickles, and mustard never fails to satisfy, offering a tangy and zesty counterpoint to the richness of the hotdog. Or, venture beyond the traditional with a colorful medley of halved cherry tomatoes, adding a burst of sweetness and freshness.

For those who enjoy a bit of tang, a generous helping of sauerkraut provides a pleasantly sour and crunchy element. The beauty of these hotdogs lies in their adaptability, inviting you to experiment with different flavors and textures to create your perfect bite. Whether you prefer a minimalist approach or a fully loaded creation, these homemade hotdogs are sure to become a new favorite.

Their ease of preparation and inherent versatility make them an ideal choice for busy weeknights or casual weekend gatherings. Gather your ingredients, unleash your creativity, and prepare to enjoy a truly satisfying and wholesome hotdog experience.

Instructions

    1.
Add the ground pork to a mixing bowl. Add the smoked paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, celery salt, and pepper. Adjust the quantities of seasoning and spices to your personal preference.
    2.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a shallow oven tray with baking paper. Divide the seasoned pork mixture into 4 even portions. Roll each portion into a sausage shape roughly 1 inch wide.
    3.
Arrange the sausages across the prepared oven tray. Transfer to the oven to bake for 16-18 minutes, or until completely cooked through. The sausages should be golden brown all over, piping hot through, and no longer pink inside.
    4.
While the sausages are cooking, finely dice the onion and thinly slice the dill pickles. Trim the tough stalks from the base of each lettuce leaf and wipe the leaves clean. Arrange the leaves on individual serving plates or one large platter.
    5.
Place one hotdog sausage in the center of each prepared leaf. Divide the chopped onion and dill pickles evenly between the four hotdogs. Top each hotdog with a half teaspoon of mustard. Serve hot with your preferred Keto hotdog sides and toppings.
