Description

Imagine a comforting, cheesy bake, re-imagined without the heaviness of traditional pasta. These lasagna rolls offer all the familiar flavors of classic lasagna in a delightful, easy-to-serve package. Instead of layers of noodles, a tender, savory dough embraces a rich and flavorful filling.

The dough, subtly crisp on the edges and soft within, provides a satisfying base that perfectly complements the other ingredients. At the heart of these rolls lies a vibrant marinara sauce, its tangy sweetness deepened by aromatic herbs and a hint of garlic. This sauce not only infuses the dish with moisture but also provides a counterpoint to the richness of the cheese.

A generous blend of ricotta, parmesan, and mozzarella creates a creamy, decadent filling. The ricotta lends a delicate sweetness and airy texture, while the parmesan adds a salty, nutty depth. The mozzarella, of course, provides that signature stretch and gooeyness that makes lasagna so irresistible.

To brighten the flavor profile and add a boost of nutrients, fresh spinach is incorporated into the cheese mixture. Its earthy notes meld seamlessly with the other ingredients, providing a welcome freshness that prevents the dish from becoming overly heavy. The spinach also adds a lovely pop of color, making the lasagna rolls even more visually appealing.

Feel free to experiment with other leafy greens, such as kale or Swiss chard, to customize the flavor to your liking. You can also add your favorite seasoned ground meat to the cheese mixture for a heartier meal. Italian sausage, ground beef, or even shredded chicken would all be delicious additions.

Other vegetables, such as mushrooms, bell peppers, or zucchini, can also be added to the filling to further enhance the flavor and texture of the dish. These lasagna rolls are incredibly versatile and can be adapted to suit your individual preferences. Whether you're looking for a comforting weeknight meal or an elegant dish to serve to guests, these lasagna rolls are sure to impress.

Their delightful flavor, satisfying texture, and beautiful presentation make them a winner every time.

Instructions

    1.
Ensure you have 1 full recipe (6 servings) of Carb Manager Fathead Dough prepared and COLD. This dough needs to be made at least a day before preparing the lasagna roll to ensure it is firm and easy to work with.
    2.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a clean, large sheet of parchment paper, roll out the cold fathead dough into an oval or rectangular shape, approximately ¼ inch thick. The edges don’t need to be perfectly even, but maintain a consistent thickness.
    3.
Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about 1 inch of space around the edges to prevent spillage during baking. Sprinkle fresh basil leaves over the marinara sauce.
    4.
Roughly spread the ricotta cheese over the marinara sauce, ensuring it's evenly distributed across the surface.
    5.
Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the ricotta. Then, arrange the spinach leaves on top, covering the entire surface.
    6.
Using the parchment paper, gently roll the lasagna roll up tightly, starting from one long edge. Be careful not to squeeze the filling out as you roll. Place the rolled lasagna on the prepared baking sheet and pinch together any holes that may have formed in the dough. Melt the butter and brush it over the top of the roll.
    7.
Bake the roll in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then, arrange the mozzarella cheese over the top, covering any new holes that may have appeared during baking. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the mozzarella is melted and slightly golden.
    8.
Remove the baked lasagna roll from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing into 6 equal slices. Serve and enjoy your keto-friendly lasagna!
