Description

These fruity 'nachos' are a fun and inventive way to enjoy a mix of textures and flavors. Thin slices of crisp, slightly tart apple form the base, artfully arranged to mimic traditional nachos. A rich, creamy nut butter, thinned to a drizzle-able consistency, blankets the apple slices, adding a smooth, nutty counterpoint to the apple's refreshing bite.

The 'nachos' are then transformed into a colorful mosaic with a scattering of juicy blueberries, creating bursts of sweetness with each bite. Small chocolate chips add a touch of decadence, their bittersweet notes playing beautifully against the other components. For a whimsical touch, heart-shaped kiwi pieces bring a playful element and a tangy zest to the mix.

This recipe is wonderfully adaptable. Feel free to explore other fruits, such as mandarin oranges, cantaloupe, or raspberries, to create your own unique flavor combinations. Firmer fruits can be thinly sliced and cut into fun shapes using cookie cutters, adding an extra layer of visual appeal.

Different nut butters can also be used to vary the flavor profile, each offering its own distinct character. A drizzle of chocolate syrup or caramel sauce can add an extra touch of indulgence. The key to the drizzle is thinning the nut butter with a neutral-tasting oil, creating the perfect consistency for coating the apple slices.

This not only makes it easier to drizzle, but also enhances the overall texture of the dish. The combination of crisp apples, creamy nut butter, juicy berries, and chocolate creates a symphony of flavors and textures that is both satisfying and delightful.

Instructions

    1.
Slice a medium-sized tart apple in half. Then cut each half in half to expose the seeds. Cut the seeds out of the core on a diagonal. You should now have four pieces of apples ready to be thinly sliced. Thinly slice each apple into 1/8" pieces. Slicing them thinly will allow for more pieces to be covered with almond butter.
    2.
Arrange the apples onto a plate. Shingling them so some overlap.
    3.
In the meantime, combine the almond butter with liquid coconut oil. It should be a nice consistency that will drizzle and no longer be thick. Drizzle the almond butter over the apples.
    4.
Decorate the apples with the chocolate chips and halved blueberries. If using fruit to make fun shapes, cut the fruit into thin slices and then cut them with a cookie cutter into the shapes (like a heart). Arrange the fun shapes onto the apple slices.
