Description

This beef and broccoli recipe offers a flavorful, healthier twist on a beloved takeout favorite. Tender slices of beef, stir-fried to perfection, mingle with crisp-tender broccoli florets in a savory sauce, creating a symphony of textures and tastes that's both satisfying and wholesome. The heart of this dish lies in its well-balanced sauce, a harmonious blend of umami-rich soy sauce and fragrant sesame oil.

These cornerstone ingredients provide a deep, savory base, enhanced by the subtle warmth of ginger and garlic. A generous sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper adds a delightful touch of spice, awakening the palate and complementing the other flavors beautifully. The dish achieves a wonderful harmony, where no single flavor overpowers, but rather each enhances the other.

The result is a delightful meal that's both easy to prepare and incredibly satisfying. The beef is succulent and tender, absorbing the flavorful sauce, while the broccoli retains a pleasant crunch, offering a textural contrast that keeps each bite interesting. The dish is visually appealing, with the vibrant green of the broccoli contrasting against the rich brown of the beef and sauce, making it as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.

This reimagined classic is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a flavorful weekend meal, offering a guilt-free indulgence that will leave you feeling nourished and content. Serve it over cauliflower rice, zucchini noodles, or shirataki noodles for a light and satisfying meal. The beauty of this dish is its adaptability; feel free to adjust the seasonings to your preference, adding a touch more ginger or garlic, or perhaps a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of heat.

Enjoy this delectable and wholesome take on a classic favorite.

Instructions

    1.
Wash the broccoli and separate the florets from the thick stems. If using Chinese broccoli, cut the stems in half where the leaves begin, separating the sections. For regular broccoli, peel the thick skin from the stems with a vegetable peeler and slice them into ¾-inch pieces on a bias. Cut the florets into manageable sizes. Mince some ginger.
    2.
Slice the beef into thin strips. Preheat a large sauté pan or wok over high heat until hot. Add the oil, then add the beef and sauté until it's halfway cooked. Season with salt, black pepper, oyster sauce, and tamari.
    3.
Add the broccoli stems and michiu wine to the pan, cover with a lid, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Remove the lid, add the broccoli florets, and cook until they are nicely green and cooked through, with most of the liquid evaporated. Drizzle sesame seed oil on top before serving.
