Description

These surf and turf skewers offer a delightful combination of succulent steak and juicy shrimp, creating a flavorful and convenient meal option. Imagine tender pieces of marinated steak, grilled to perfection, alternating with plump, pink shrimp that have just the right amount of bite. The beauty of these skewers lies in their simplicity and the wonderful interplay of textures and tastes.

The steak, whether it's sirloin, tenderloin, or ribeye, is first marinated in a blend of savory herbs, garlic, and a touch of acidity to enhance its natural flavors and ensure maximum tenderness. As it grills, the steak develops a beautiful char on the outside while remaining juicy and flavorful within. The shrimp, known for its delicate sweetness, is equally enhanced by a simple marinade of olive oil, lemon juice, and a hint of red pepper flakes, providing a subtle warmth that complements the richness of the beef.

Once assembled on skewers, these surf and turf combinations are grilled to perfection, allowing the flavors to meld together and create a harmonious balance. The smoky char from the grill adds another layer of complexity, making each bite an explosion of taste and texture. The contrast between the slightly chewy steak and the tender shrimp is incredibly satisfying, making these skewers a truly special treat.

They are best served immediately, when the steak is at its juiciest and the shrimp is still warm and succulent. These surf and turf skewers are not only delicious but also visually appealing, making them perfect for both casual gatherings and more formal occasions. Arrange them artfully on a platter, perhaps garnished with fresh herbs or a drizzle of balsamic glaze, to elevate their presentation.

Serve alongside a light salad or grilled vegetables for a complete and balanced meal. These skewers are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, offering something for everyone to enjoy. Their versatility and elegant simplicity make them a standout choice for any occasion.

Enjoy the symphony of flavors as the land and sea unite on your plate in perfect harmony.

Instructions

    1.
Combine all seasonings in a bowl. Peel and devein shrimp. In a separate bowl, mix shrimp with olive oil and ⅓ of the seasoning mix.
    2.
Heat a skillet on medium heat. Add shrimp and pour remaining oil and seasonings from the bowl over them. Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes until cooked through and slightly golden.
    3.
Set shrimp aside. Clean the skillet. Place sirloin on a clean surface and sprinkle the remaining seasoning mix over the exposed side.
    4.
Pour olive oil in the skillet and heat to medium-high. Place the steak, seasoned side down, in the oil. Slice steak in half for easier cooking.
    5.
Cook steak on high heat for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook both sides to preferred doneness (4-5 minutes per side for medium-well). Undercook slightly for later cooking.
    6.
Set steak aside to rest. Preheat oven to 400 degrees with broiler on. Soak skewers in warm water. Prepare a baking rack over a sheet tray. Slice steak into cubes.
    7.
Fill skewers with steak and shrimp, alternating 2 pieces of steak followed by a shrimp. Each skewer should hold 3 shrimp and 7-8 steak cubes. Set skewers on the baking rack.
    8.
Set the rack of skewers in the oven. Bake for approximately 12 minutes, or until the steak gets a charred, darker exterior and the shrimp has golden brown edges. Check frequently to avoid burning.
    9.
Enjoy with your favorite side dish!
