Description

This hearty dish, reminiscent of Midwestern comfort food, features savory beef patties enveloped in a rich, homemade mushroom gravy. The robust flavor of the gravy is deepened by a generous splash of Worcestershire sauce, which infuses every bite with a delightful umami richness. A sprinkle of fresh parsley adds a touch of brightness and visual appeal, complementing the earthy tones of the mushrooms and the deep brown hue of the gravy.

The beef patties, cooked to juicy perfection, offer a satisfyingly meaty texture that contrasts beautifully with the smooth, velvety gravy. The mushrooms, softened and infused with the savory sauce, contribute a delightful chewiness that enhances the overall mouthfeel of the dish. The gravy itself is a symphony of flavors and textures.

Made from scratch, it boasts a depth and complexity that pre-made sauces simply can't match. The earthy mushrooms meld seamlessly with the beefy juices, creating a luscious sauce that coats the patties and begs to be soaked up. The Worcestershire sauce adds a tangy, savory note that elevates the dish to another level, while the parsley provides a fresh, herbaceous counterpoint.

This dish is incredibly versatile and pairs well with a variety of sides. Consider serving it with creamy cauliflower mashed potatoes, which perfectly complement the richness of the gravy and provide a comforting, familiar texture. Alternatively, you could opt for a side of roasted vegetables, such as broccoli or asparagus, for a lighter, more vibrant accompaniment.

A simple green salad with a tangy vinaigrette would also provide a refreshing contrast to the savory flavors of the main course. Whether you're looking for a comforting weeknight meal or a satisfying dish to share with friends and family, these mushroom-smothered beef patties are sure to please. The combination of juicy beef, savory gravy, and fresh parsley creates a culinary experience that is both comforting and refined.

It's a dish that will warm you from the inside out and leave you feeling completely satisfied.

Instructions

    1.
In a bowl, combine the first 9 ingredients together to form the salisbury steak patties.
    2.
Divide the mixture into 4 sections and build 4 patties about ½-inch thick with your hands. They don’t have to be shaped perfectly, but ovals or circles are good.
    3.
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over high heat and place in the patties. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until they are completely cooked through and both sides are browned well. For the first 3 minutes of cooking, you can place a lid over the patties to trap steam and make more tender patties.
    4.
When done, transfer the patties to a clean plate to rest. Then, melt butter in the pan over very low heat to deglaze the pan. Toss in minced garlic and the xanthan gum, and use a fork to quickly whisk the ingredients together in the butter.
    5.
Pour the water and worcestershire into the pan, and turn the heat up to a medium-low (enough for a low simmer). Toss in sliced mushrooms and condensed beef broth. Place the lid on the pan and simmer the ingredients very gently for 4 minutes.
    6.
Finally, stir the remaining salt and pepper into the mushroom gravy. Place the 4 salisbury steak patties in the sauce. Return the lid, and let all the ingredients warm up together for 2-3 minutes. You may gently spoon the gravy over the patties to help them gather the flavors of the gravy.
    7.
Serve hot! You may garnish with fresh or dried parsley at your discretion. Enjoy!
