Description

Imagine starting your day with a warm, comforting bowl that tantalizes your taste buds with a symphony of flavors and textures. This savory oatmeal creation transcends the traditional sweet breakfast, offering a delightful and nourishing alternative that will leave you feeling satisfied and energized. The base of this dish is a creamy, subtly nutty oatmeal, cooked to perfection to achieve a velvety smooth consistency.

Each spoonful is a blank canvas, ready to receive the layers of savory goodness that elevate this humble grain to a culinary masterpiece. Nestled atop the oatmeal is a perfectly soft-boiled egg, its yolk a golden, molten treasure waiting to be discovered. As you gently break the yolk with your spoon, it oozes out, creating a luscious sauce that enriches the oatmeal and adds a delightful creaminess to every bite.

The richness of the yolk is beautifully balanced by the vibrant, salty notes of miso-glazed kale. The kale, tender yet slightly crisp, provides a wonderful textural contrast to the creamy oatmeal and soft egg. Its savory, umami flavor deepens with each bite, adding a layer of complexity that keeps you coming back for more.

To complete this culinary experience, a drizzle of spicy chili oil awakens your senses with a gentle warmth that lingers on your palate. The chili oil adds a subtle kick that complements the other flavors without overpowering them, creating a harmonious balance of savory, salty, and spicy notes. This savory oatmeal is not only a delicious and satisfying meal, but it is also packed with nutrients.

It is a good source of protein, fiber, and essential vitamins, making it a wholesome and nourishing way to start your day. Whether you're looking for a comforting breakfast on a chilly morning or a quick and easy lunch option, this savory oatmeal is sure to become a new favorite. Feel free to customize this dish to your liking by experimenting with different toppings and seasonings.

Use your favorite type of milk to create a dairy-free option or add other vegetables such as mushrooms or spinach for an extra boost of nutrients. The possibilities are endless!

Instructions

    1.
Hard boil one egg (or a batch of eggs if you want to meal prep). Start with a small pot of boiling water. Slowly drop in the eggs and cook for 6 mins. Drain the water, add ice to the pot and cold water. Wait until the eggs are chilled to peel them.
    2.
In a small saute pan, add olive oil and heat over medium high heat until hot. Then add the kale, miso paste, 1 tbsp water and a pinch of garlic powder. Cook distributing the miso paste into the kale. Cook for a couple minutes until kale is wilted well.
    3.
In the meantime, combine the ground flax seeds, chia seeds and milk together. Add a pinch of salt.
    4.
Cook in the microwave on HIGH for one minute. Stir and repeat for another minute.
    5.
Top savory oatmeal with kale, peeled egg cut in half and a drizzle of chili oil.
