Description

These mixed berry coolers are a delightful way to quench your thirst with a refreshing and fruity beverage. Perfect for any occasion, these non-alcoholic coolers offer a vibrant burst of berry flavor balanced with a light, sparkling effervescence. At the heart of this recipe is a luscious homemade berry syrup.

Imagine the deep, concentrated taste of ripe berries, simmered to a rich sweetness that captures the essence of summer. This syrup, crafted from your favorite blend of fresh berries, is the secret to the cooler's irresistible flavor. The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and adaptability.

Once you've created the berry syrup, assembling the coolers is a breeze. Simply combine the syrup with chilled sparkling water, and you're ready to enjoy a revitalizing drink. Feel free to adjust the amount of syrup to your liking, tailoring the sweetness to your personal preference.

Each sip is a tantalizing dance of flavors and textures. The initial sweetness of the berry syrup gives way to the crisp, clean taste of sparkling water, creating a harmonious blend that is both satisfying and invigorating. The bubbles add a playful element, making each drink feel like a celebration.

For a touch of extra zing, consider adding a squeeze of fresh citrus juice. Lemon, lime, or even a splash of orange can elevate the flavors, adding a bright, tangy note that complements the sweetness of the berries. The homemade berry syrup is incredibly versatile.

Make a large batch and store it in the refrigerator, ready to transform ordinary sparkling water into an extraordinary treat whenever the mood strikes. This recipe is a wonderful way to incorporate the natural goodness of berries into your diet. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries offer a wealth of vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber, making these coolers not only delicious but also nutritious.

Instructions

    1.
Add frozen berries to a saucepot and fill the pot with water until the berries are just covered. Add lemon juice and liquid stevia drops to the pot. Cover with a lid and bring the pot to a boil.
    2.
Boil the berries until they’re soft enough to mash with a fork. Remove the pot from your stove and use an immersion blender or standing blender to blend the berries and water. Strain the mixture to remove all the pulp - you should be left with a purple liquid.
    3.
Return the purple liquid to your saucepot and bring it to a simmer. Simmer the liquid until it reduces by about half. Now, you’ll need to set the liquid aside to cool (about an hour). This time is noted in the recipe prep time.
    4.
Once the berry liquid is cooled, prepare glasses by filling them with ice. Each serving gets 2 tablespoons of berry liquid poured over ice. Pour 6-8 fluid ounces of plain sparkling water into each glass before serving.
