Description

Imagine a pizza where the crust is made entirely of savory, seasoned ground meat. This "meatza" starts with a base of lean ground turkey, carefully shaped and pre-baked to create a sturdy foundation. The result is a protein-rich alternative to traditional pizza, allowing you to enjoy all your favorite flavors without the carbs.

Once the turkey crust is ready, it's time to layer on the classic pizza toppings. Creamy, melted mozzarella cheese forms the perfect blanket for the other ingredients. The salty tang of olives complements the richness of the cheese, while crispy prosciutto adds a delightful textural contrast.

Thinly sliced, tender onions provide a subtle sweetness that ties the flavors together. The meatza is then baked until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown, and the prosciutto is irresistibly crisp. The aroma that fills your kitchen is a testament to the deliciousness to come.

To finish, a scattering of fresh arugula adds a peppery note and a vibrant pop of color. A drizzle of olive oil enhances the flavors and adds a touch of richness. The combination of the savory meat crust, the melted cheese, the salty toppings, and the fresh arugula creates a symphony of flavors and textures that will tantalize your taste buds.

This meatza is a fantastic option for a satisfying weekend dinner. Serve it with a fresh, hearty salad or a side of crisp coleslaw for a complete and balanced meal. Feel free to get creative and customize the toppings to your liking.

Whether you prefer classic pepperoni, sautéed mushrooms, or roasted vegetables, the meatza crust provides a versatile canvas for your culinary imagination. Enjoy a guilt-free indulgence that is both delicious and satisfying.

Instructions

    1.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large shallow oven tray with baking paper. Add the ground turkey to a large mixing bowl along with the garlic powder, salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Use your hands to mix the ingredients together well.
    2.
Turn the ground meat out onto the lined oven tray. Press down gently to form a circle - roughly a half inch thick. Transfer to the oven to bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and drain away any excess liquid.
    3.
Whilst the base is cooking, thinly slice the onion. Heat half the olive oil in a skillet over a low/medium heat. Add the onion, sweating gently until tender and translucent.
    4.
Spread the tomato paste in an even layer across the base of the pizza. Slice the mozzarella into half inch thick discs. Arrange the mozzarella across the pizza.
    5.
Slice the olives in half and roughly tear the prosciutto. Arrange across the pizza along with the cooked onions. Season with a little salt and pepper. Transfer to the oven to bake for a further 10 minutes or until the base is completely cooked through and the cheese has melted.
    6.
Scatter with the fresh arugula. Drizzle with the remaining olive oil to serve.
