Instructions

    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Take a large avocado, slice it in half lengthwise, and remove the pit and skin from each half. Place the avocado halves with the cut-side (where the pit was) facing down on your work surface. Using a paring knife, make six evenly spaced slices along the length of each avocado half, being careful to leave the slices attached at the narrow end. Gently fan out the slices to create a hasselback effect, as shown in the picture.

    Take 2 slices of turkey and cut each slice into 6 thin strips, resulting in a total of 12 strips. If your cheddar cheese is not pre-sliced, cut it into 12 small, rectangular pieces that will fit neatly into the avocado slices.

    Arrange 2 strips of turkey and 1 piece of cheese into each slice of the hasselback avocado, alternating between turkey and cheese. Once all the slices are filled, lightly sprinkle salt and pepper over the top of the avocados. Place the baking sheet with the assembled avocados into the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly bubbly. Remove from the oven and enjoy immediately!
