Description

This delightful crumbed fish offers a wonderful option for those seeking a lighter alternative to traditionally breaded fish. Imagine sinking your teeth into a tender, flaky white fish fillet, encased in a delicately crisp and flavorful coating. The secret lies in the unique breading: a blend of finely ground almonds, infused with the subtle, yet distinctive aroma of dried dill.

This combination creates a satisfyingly crunchy texture that perfectly complements the soft, succulent fish within. The preparation is simple, beginning with a generous coating of beaten egg, ensuring the almond and dill mixture adheres beautifully. Once thoroughly coated, the fillets are gently baked in the oven until they achieve a desirable golden hue and a satisfyingly crisp exterior.

The baking process allows the fish to cook evenly, retaining its moisture and delicate flavor, while the almond crust transforms into a delicious, nutty armor. This crumbed fish is incredibly versatile and pairs well with a variety of side dishes. Consider serving it alongside a vibrant, hearty salad bursting with fresh greens and colorful vegetables, or a creamy, tangy slaw for a refreshing contrast.

The possibilities are endless, allowing you to create a complete and satisfying meal that caters to your individual tastes. While this recipe calls for sea bass fillets, feel free to experiment with other types of white fish, such as cod, haddock, or flounder. Each variety offers its own unique flavor profile and texture, adding a delightful twist to the dish.

Regardless of your choice, the key is to select fresh, high-quality fillets that are firm and moist. The result is a dish that is both comforting and elegant, perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The combination of textures and flavors is simply irresistible: the tender, flaky fish, the crisp, nutty crust, and the subtle hint of dill create a symphony of sensations that will leave you wanting more.

It’s a delightful way to enjoy fish, offering a healthy and satisfying meal that is sure to please even the most discerning palate.

Instructions

    1.
Crack the egg into a bowl and whisk until smooth. Add the ground almonds, a heaped teaspoon of dried dill, a heaped teaspoon of lemon zest, salt and pepper to a separate bowl. Mix well to combine. You may add more salt and pepper as desired to suit your taste.
    2.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly oil a shallow oven tray. Take one of the fish fillets and dip it in the beaten egg so that it is completely coated all over. Then, dip the egg coated fillet in the low carb breading so that it is coated evenly all over in the crumb. Repeat this with the second fillet, using up all the breading mixture.
    3.
Arrange the breaded fillets on the prepared oven tray. Transfer to the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until the fish is entirely cooked through and the crumb is crisp and golden all over. Serve the fish hot with your preferred Keto sides.
