Description

These parmesan-crusted green beans offer a delightful combination of textures and savory flavors. The green beans are transformed from a simple vegetable into a crispy, golden treat that's appealing to both adults and children. Imagine biting into a slender green bean encased in a perfectly crisp parmesan coating – it's a satisfying crunch followed by the earthy taste of the bean and the salty, nutty tang of the cheese.

Baked to a golden brown, these green beans can be enjoyed as a light side dish or a satisfying snack. Their unique shape makes them easy to pick up and enjoy, almost like a healthier version of fries. For optimal enjoyment, allow the baked green beans to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

While they're best enjoyed fresh from the oven when the parmesan crust is at its crispiest, they also hold up surprisingly well as a cold snack straight from the fridge. The flavors meld together even more as they chill, making them a great option for a quick and easy bite. The secret to achieving that perfect crispy coating lies in the parmesan cheese.

Its unique properties allow it to withstand the high heat of the oven without melting away, resulting in a beautiful, golden crust that adheres well to the green beans. The nutty and sharp flavor of the parmesan complements the mild, fresh taste of the green beans, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. Feel free to experiment with similar hard cheeses like Pecorino Romano or Manchego for subtle variations in taste.

Whether you're looking for a simple way to add more vegetables to your diet or a flavorful snack to satisfy your cravings, these parmesan-crusted green beans are sure to be a hit.

    2 tablespoon, grated

Instructions

    1.
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees and line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Rinse and pat dry fresh green beans and place them in a large mixing bowl. If necessary, cut off any hard or stringy ends of the green beans before you use them. Melt the butter in your microwave and drizzle it over the green beans. Toss the green beans with the butter until they re completely coated. Then, toss the green beans with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
    2.
Fill a large Ziploc bag with grated parmesan cheese. You can add a little extra cheese than what is listed to the bag to ensure the green beans get properly coated. Transfer the seasoned green beans to the parmesan cheese bag and seal the bag with air inside. Shake the green beans around until they re mostly coated in the parmesan cheese. Shake the green beans out onto your sheet tray.
    3.
Spread the green beans out gently so they bake evenly. Bake the tray in your oven for 25 minutes. Then, flip and move the green beans around on the tray with a fork or other utensil so any remaining white parmesan cheese can brown. Bake the tray for an additional 10 minutes. The green beans should be crispy and easy to pick up. Serve hot!
