Description

Imagine the satisfying flavors of a classic cheeseburger, deconstructed and transformed into a vibrant salad. This Cheeseburger Salad starts with a crisp bed of fresh greens, a medley of textures and tastes that invites you in for a delightful and familiar, yet innovative, experience. The foundation of this salad is its unique dressing, a homemade creamy and tangy delight reminiscent of thousand island, bringing a touch of sweetness and depth to every bite.

Its richness coats the greens, ensuring each leaf contributes to the overall flavor profile. Then comes the heart of the cheeseburger experience: savory, perfectly seasoned beef. The beef, cooked until slightly charred, offers a robust and smoky counterpoint to the refreshing greens and creamy dressing.

Its warm, hearty nature provides a satisfying contrast to the cool, crisp vegetables. No cheeseburger is complete without cheese, and this salad doesn't disappoint. A generous layer of melted cheddar blankets the beef, its sharp and salty notes melding seamlessly with the other ingredients.

The melted cheese creates a comforting, gooey element that elevates the salad beyond a simple mix of vegetables and meat. Diced tomatoes, ripe and juicy, add a burst of freshness and acidity, cutting through the richness of the beef and cheese. Their bright flavor adds a refreshing counterpoint.

This Cheeseburger Salad is more than just a collection of ingredients; it's a playful and delicious reimagining of a beloved classic. Each bite offers a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, from the crisp lettuce to the savory beef, the tangy dressing, and the juicy tomatoes. It’s a satisfying and complete meal that captures the essence of a cheeseburger in a lighter, more refreshing format.

Whether you're looking for a new way to enjoy familiar flavors or simply seeking a hearty and flavorful salad, this Cheeseburger Salad is sure to become a new favorite. It’s comfort food reinvented.

Instructions

    1.
For the thousand-island dressing, whisk together the mayo; ketchup; olive oil; just a pinch each of the salt, cumin, and onion powder (about 1/16 teaspoon each per serving); lemon juice, and minced pickle. Most processed relishes have added sugars, so you may need to hand-mince the pickle (or sub in pickle juice in place of lemon juice). Set the dressing aside in your fridge to keep cool.
    2.
Mix together the ground beef with the salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Leave the ground beef crumbled in chunks - do not form a patty.
    3.
Heat the olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Toss the crumbled chunks of seasoned beef in the pan. Cook until crispy brown all over. Then, reduce your heat to low and layer the cheese over the cooked beef, cooking until just melted. Set the burger aside to cool slightly.
    4.
Arrange a serving plate with a bed of fresh greens, halved grape tomatoes, the cooked cheeseburger, and thousand-island dressing. You can serve the dressing on the side, toss it with the greens before plating, or simply drizzle over the top.
