Description

Imagine sinking your teeth into ribs where the meat is so tender, it practically falls off the bone with just a gentle tug. These oven-baked ribs achieve that perfect balance of smoky, savory, and slightly sweet, making them an instant favorite. The journey begins with a generous rack of pork ribs, lovingly coated in a vibrant blend of spices.

This aromatic mix penetrates deep into the meat, laying the foundation for a truly flavorful experience. The ribs then undergo a transformation during the marination process, resting for at least six hours, or even better, overnight. This allows the flavors to meld together, ensuring that every bite is packed with deliciousness.

Next, a luscious, tomato-based barbecue sauce, reminiscent of Southern traditions, is generously brushed over the ribs. This thick sauce clings to the meat, creating a beautiful, caramelized crust as it roasts in the oven. The sauce infuses the outer layer of the pork with a smoky sweetness that complements the savory meat perfectly.

As the ribs bake, the aroma that fills your kitchen is simply irresistible. Slowly, the meat tenderizes, transforming into a succulent masterpiece. The result is a rack of ribs with a beautifully crusted top layer and an interior that is incredibly moist and tender.

These ribs are ideal for any occasion, whether it's a relaxed family dinner or a casual get-together with friends. Their crowd-pleasing flavor is sure to impress everyone. And for those who prefer a hands-off approach, these ribs can also be adapted for a slow cooker.

A quick sear followed by a long, slow simmer in barbecue sauce results in equally tender and flavorful ribs. If you're cooking for a smaller group, the recipe can easily be adjusted. Plus, these ribs are great for meal prepping.

They hold up well in the refrigerator for up to three days, allowing you to enjoy their deliciousness throughout the week. Whether it's a holiday celebration or a simple summer gathering, these ribs are guaranteed to be a star of the show. Prepare to savor the taste of perfectly cooked, fall-off-the-bone ribs.

Instructions

    1.
Pat a full rack of pork ribs dry with a paper towel and rub olive oil into the flesh. In a bowl, combine seasoned salt, chili powder, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, and mustard powder to create your seasoning blend. Generously rub the seasoning mixture onto the top and sides of the ribs. Apply a smaller amount of seasoning to the underside. Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
    2.
In a pot over medium heat, combine beef broth, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and a brown sugar substitute. Heat until the tomato paste is fully incorporated into the liquids. Add cumin, garlic powder, pepper, a whole bay leaf, and butter to the pot. Let the butter melt and the spices stew in the bubbling sauce, allowing it to reduce and thicken. Remove from heat and let cool to thicken further.
    3.
Preheat your oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the wrapped ribs on a baking sheet to catch any drippings, and bake for 2 hours (do not unwrap the foil). Increase the oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Unwrap the ribs and spread a thin layer of barbecue sauce over the top. Leave the ribs unwrapped and cook for another 2 hours. Finally, brush the remaining sauce over the ribs, re-wrap them tightly in foil (adding more foil if needed to ensure they are fully covered), and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 hours or longer.
    4.
If the ribs aren't falling off the bone after 7 hours, continue baking them until they reach your desired tenderness. The meat should easily pull apart. Let the ribs rest for at least 20 minutes before cutting and serving. Fully cooled ribs can be stored in airtight containers in your refrigerator for up to 3 days.
