Description

These simple salami snacks are a delightful way to satisfy cravings without spending hours in the kitchen. Featuring a savory combination of rich salami and creamy cheese, these bites offer a satisfying blend of flavors and textures. The recipe contains minimal carbohydrates and a generous amount of fat from the cheese and salami, making it ideal for those tracking macronutrients.

To prepare, wrap slices of salami around sticks of cheese. Air frying transforms them into delightful, bite-sized snacks reminiscent of mozzarella sticks. The result is a satisfying contrast: a crispy, savory salami exterior giving way to warm, melted cheese within.

Pulling them apart reveals the gooey, molten cheese inside, creating a truly irresistible experience. Whether you need a quick snack or a way to add extra calories to a meal, these cheesy salami bites are a convenient option. The cheese sticks work exceptionally well in an air fryer because of their unique texture.

For those who prefer, brick-style mozzarella can be used as an alternative. Simply slice the mozzarella into sticks approximately 2 inches long, ensuring they are of similar dimensions to the original cheese sticks. When air frying, start with 5 minutes and then continue cooking in 1-minute increments, keeping a close eye on them, until they reach your desired level of crispiness and the cheese is perfectly melted.

Remember that cooking times may vary based on your appliance, so adjust accordingly. The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and adaptability. Feel free to experiment with different types of salami and cheese to create your own personalized flavor combinations.

Add a sprinkle of herbs or spices to the salami before wrapping for an extra layer of flavor. These cheesy salami bites are guaranteed to be a hit, offering a satisfying and flavorful experience that is both easy to prepare and incredibly enjoyable.

Ingredients

    1.
Salami, cotto (cooked or soft), beef and pork

    10 slice - 4" diameter x 1/8" - each 0.8 ounce
    2.
    Cheese sticks
    Cheese sticks
    5 stick - each 1 ounce

Instructions

    1.
To start, choose thin, pre-sliced salami. The salami needs to be flexible and all the pieces need to be equivalent to each other. Choose all-natural mozzarella string cheese, if possible. Cut each stick of cheese into two short halves. If you don't have string cheese available to you, you can use brick-style mozzarella cheese. Refer to the tips in the recipe introduction if you make the substitution.
    2.
Wrap a slice of salami around each piece of string cheese. Roll the string cheese in the salami, folding the salami like you would a tortilla for a burrito. When you tuck the ends of the salami over the cheese, use a toothpick to secure the salami in place by pushing it through one end of the cheese to the other. Wrap all the pieces of cheese, and arrange them on an air fryer tray.
    3.
Preheat your air fryer to 365 degrees. Cook the mozzarella sticks for only 6-7 minutes. Look for melted cheese and browned edges all over the salami. Keep an eye on your air fryer while it's cooking so you don't overcook the mozzarella sticks. Overcooked mozzarella sticks will look deflated, very dark in some areas, and the salami and cheese will both harden from losing moisture. Remove the toothpicks before serving warm.
