Air Fryer Low Carb Paleo Sausage Brussels and Sweet Potatoes

Description

Imagine golden-brown Brussels sprouts, their outer leaves crisped to perfection, mingling with the subtle sweetness of caramelized onions. This delightful medley forms the base of a dish that's both comforting and vibrant. Interspersed throughout are small cubes of sweet potato, each one tender and infused with a delicate smoky flavor from sweet paprika, along with the savory notes of garlic and sea salt.

The air fryer works its magic, transforming these humble vegetables into a symphony of textures – crispy edges giving way to soft, yielding interiors. Without an air fryer, the oven provides an equally satisfying result, roasting the vegetables to a rich, caramelized finish. The beauty of this dish lies in its adaptability.

Feel free to incorporate your preferred type of sausage, adding a hearty protein element that complements the sweetness of the vegetables. The savory sausage interplays wonderfully with the other flavors, creating a balanced and satisfying meal. For those seeking a lower-carbohydrate option, simply omit the sweet potatoes and focus on the combination of Brussels sprouts and sausage.

The method remains the same, ensuring a consistently delicious outcome. While sweet potatoes offer a gentler impact on blood sugar, their inclusion is entirely optional, allowing for complete customization based on dietary preferences. This dish is incredibly versatile, making it suitable for a weeknight dinner or an elegant side dish for a special occasion.

The combination of textures and flavors is truly captivating – the slight bitterness of the Brussels sprouts, the sweetness of the onions and sweet potatoes, and the savory richness of the sausage all come together in perfect harmony. It's a celebration of simple ingredients transformed into something extraordinary, offering a healthy and flavorful experience that will leave you feeling nourished and satisfied. Enjoy this culinary adventure, and let the vibrant flavors transport you to a place of pure gastronomic bliss.

Instructions

    1.
Begin by peeling and then finely dicing the sweet potatoes. Place them into a mixing bowl and toss with the 1 tbsp olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, and sea salt.
    2.
Place the sweet potatoes into the air fryer with the rack and cook at 400 F for 15 minutes.
    3.
While the sweet potatoes are cooking prepare the Brussels sprouts. Wash and cut the Brussels sprouts in half. Then toss them in a bowl with ½ tbsp olive oil, ¼ tsp sea salt, and sliced white onion.
    4.
Cook the Brussels sprouts at 400 F for 5 minutes.
    5.
Once both the sweet potatoes and the Brussels sprouts are cooked, combine them at the bottom of the air fryer basket but remove the rack this time. Add halved sausages (cut lengthwise) on top of the vegetables.
    6.
Cook at 400 F for 10 minutes or until browned. Serve immediately!
